Wollersheim Winery Earns International Recognition with Double Gold for Wisconsin’s Favorite Wine

Prairie du Sac, WI – Wollersheim Winery is proud to announce that its flagship wine, Prairie Fumé, has been awarded a prestigious Double Gold Medal at the 2025 Finger Lakes International Wine & Spirits Competition (FLIWC). This distinction highlights not only the exceptional quality of Prairie Fumé but also affirms Wisconsin’s reputation on the world stage of winemaking.

Held annually in Rochester, New York, the Finger Lakes International Wine & Spirits Competition is one of the largest and most respected wine competitions in North America. The 2025 competition featured over 1,600 entries from around the globe, judged blind by a panel of seasoned wine experts, winemakers, and sommeliers.

A Double Gold Medal is awarded when all judges on a panel unanimously designate a wine as unanimously exceptional & remarkably distinctive, indicating it is among the very best. Judges at the 2025 FLIWC described Prairie Fumé as “vibrant, clean, expressive, and flavorful.”

“Winning Double Gold for Prairie Fumé is a powerful statement that Wisconsin wines can stand among the best in the world,” said Céline Coquard Lenerz, Head Winemaker of Wollersheim. “It’s a proud moment not just for our team, but for the entire Wisconsin wine community.”

In addition to Prairie Fumé’s Double Gold, Wollersheim Winery earned multiple other accolades at the 2025 FLIWC:

•              Gold Medal – Port Rosé from Cedar Creek Winery (sister winery to Wollersheim)

•              Silver Medal – St. Pepin 2023

•              Silver Medal – Prairie Sunburst 2024

The Finger Lakes competition is unique in that all net proceeds benefit Camp Good Days and Special Times, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting children and families affected by cancer.

As one of Wisconsin’s oldest and most awarded wineries, Wollersheim continues to lead the way in cold-climate winemaking, with Prairie Fumé consistently ranking as the state’s most beloved wine. These latest awards further validate the winery’s dedication to quality, tradition, and innovation.
