The Sauk County Humane Society (SCHS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of animals in need throughout Sauk County and beyond. As a true open admissions shelter, we turn no animal away in it's time of need, nor do we place hurdles in front of people bringing in an animal, such as surrender fees and forced appointments. We RELY on DONATIONS to help the thousands of animals that make their way to us.
In addition to helping unwanted or injured animals, the Sauk County Humane Society has many programs in place the help area citizens, including our Companions in Crisis program, designed to help people keep their pets when falling on hard or difficult times. This program includes a Pet Food Pantry for pets, a safekeeping program, where we will keep an animal temporarily for an individual experiencing a life crisis, and pet partnership, where volunteers will go into people’s home to care for a pet on a temporary basis when a person is unable to due to a medical issue or some other crisis. We also offer the area’s only low-cost spay/neuter clinic to all patrons since 2014. By providing this service to our community and all surrounding communities, we are helping to save the community the thousands of dollars paid out each year to cope with pet overpopulation.
