Title:  Director – Imaging Services
FTE:  1.00 FTE (40 hours/week)
Schedule: Monday-Friday from 8:00am - 4:30pm
Holiday Rotation:  N/A
Weekend Rotation: N/A

Direct and manage the hospital Imaging Department and provide clinical oversight to clinic imaging services.  The Director is responsible for the overall operation, leadership, direction, and administration of the hospital Imaging Department to ensure safety, security, quality and accuracy of results and to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and accreditation requirements.  This includes the employment of personnel who are competent to perform test procedures and record and report test results promptly, accurately, and proficiently.  The Director has clinical oversight, including regulatory compliance, clinical competencies, and quality assurance for the clinic imaging services, but does not have direct budgetary or supervisory responsibility for them.

  • Manages and directs the accreditation activities of imaging services at all sites, including all aspects of the radiology survey process.  Serves as the organizational contact to facilitate and coordinate the radiology accreditation process.  Ensures satisfactory completion and incorporation of the survey results into imaging processes.  Coordinates the response to the survey results.
  • Manages staff of department, including:  hiring recommendations, performance management/evaluation, coaching/corrective action and other personnel actions necessary to maintain operational efficiency, employee engagement, and regulatory compliance.
  • Reviews and coordinates hospital imaging staffing schedules to ensure adequate staffing and delivery of quality patient care.  Assists with staffing at clinics, as needed.
  • Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of Hospital policies, procedures, and practices.  Adopts and promotes organization values and strategic initiatives aligning them with the departmental goals. 
  • Responsible for establishing a quality control program, establishing the parameters for acceptable levels of analytic performance and ensuring that the levels are maintained throughout the entire testing process and at all sites providing imaging services
  • Develops and updates long range strategic planning of imaging services to support the organization’s mission, philosophy and goals.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for all imaging services.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of CPT and ICD 10 coding as it pertains to imaging services.
  • Responsible for managing and updating the Imaging Services chargemaster.
  • Responsible for managing and updating the Imaging and Therapeutics Services (ITS) and Community Wide Scheduling (CWS) modules of the Hospital Information System.
  • Promotes and maintains good interdepartmental relationships between Imaging and other hospital departments and external entities.
  • Prepares the annual capital and operational budgets for hospital imaging services and meets fiscal targets.  Monitors expense, revenue, and utilization of imaging services.  Directs and oversees equipment maintenance and acquisition, service contracts, and contracted agencies. 
  • Identifies training needs and assures that each individual performing tests, at all sites, receives regular in-service training and education appropriate for the type and complexity of the services performed.
  • Evaluates the competency of personnel at all sites and assures that staff maintains their competency to perform procedures and report results promptly, accurately, and proficiently. 
  • Serves on internal and external committees and workgroups as requested

  • Required:  Bachelor’s degree in Radiology or Nuclear Medicine from an accredited institution
  • Preferred:  Master’s degree
  • Required: Minimum 5 years of general radiology experience. Minimum 2 years of supervision of professional and technical personnel.
  • Preferred:  Experience in a hospital setting.  Knowledge of both hospital and clinic imaging operations
Licenses and Registrations
  • Required: If AART Certified, licensure by the State of Wisconsin to provide medical radiographic services. 
  • Preferred:  None
  • Required: Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) in Radiology (R), or certification by Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT)
  • Preferred: Basic Life Support (BLS); Additional Registry Certifications
