About Us

Sauk Prairie Early Learning Center is an exciting new child care center currently under construction in the heart of the Sauk Prairie community, set to open in September 2025. In partnership with the Sauk Prairie School District, Sauk Prairie Area Chamber of Commerce, municipalities, and generous donors, this vision has been able to come to life. Sauk Prairie Early Learning Center is a year round program providing early care and education to children ages 6 weeks - 5, with an enrollment capacity of 168. Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging early learning environment that effectively supports the diverse needs of children, families, and community. We are committed to delivering high-quality early care and education, creating a foundation for children to build critical skills for school and throughout life.

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Childhood Lead Teachers to join our collaborative teaching team. The ideal candidate seeks a career in early childhood and fosters a warm, nurturing classroom culture that supports each child’s social-emotional and cognitive development through intentional play and responsive teaching strategies. We are seeking an individual who is willing to learn and grow as a team. We are hiring classroom educators for all age groups along with float educators who are flexible and adaptable to any age and classroom. Interviews starting in June, with a September start date.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based learning experiences aligned with WMELS and the Pyramid Model framework.
  • Create a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and exploration.
  • Uphold Wisconsin Group Child Care Licensing rules and regulations
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and styles.
  • Using the Wisconsin Pyramid Model framework; support positive child guidance, independence, and self-regulation to build strong social-emotional foundations.
  • Build trusting relationships with children and families to support consistent communication and collaboration.
  • Prioritize tasks and situations to meet needs of children and environment appropriately
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, families, and children.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, including Pyramid Model training and coaching.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, (preferred or willing to complete)
  • Experience in a licensed early childhood program; knowledge of Wisconsin licensing rules and regulations, knowledge of Youngstar a plus
  • Familiarity with WMELS and the Pyramid Model framework; Pyramid Model training not required, training will be provided
  • Strong communication, observation, and reflective teaching skills.
  • Ability to build positive, respectful relationships with young children and families.
  • CPR/First Aid certified (or willingness to obtain upon hire), and willingness to complete AHT and SIDS training
  • If working with infants and toddlers, must have training verification on Wisconsin Registry certificate for the Infant/Toddler requirement, or be willing to complete

District Description:

The district includes Sauk City and Prairie du Sac, two “next door” villages known as Sauk Prairie. They are located on the beautiful Wisconsin River. Thirteen towns and the village of Merrimac are also in the district. The area features rolling hills, meadows, bluffs, forests, lakes, and streams. The district offers small-town, rural living with easy access to the Madison urban area (25 miles) and to the Wisconsin Dells recreation area (28 miles). The district serves 2,800 students and comprises six learning communities with a high school of 850 students, middle school of 600 students and four elementary schools of 1350 students.
