The Prairie du Sac Fire Department will host an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 6 at the fire station, 855 17th St., in the Prairie du Sac Industrial Park.
This year's theme is "Working Smoke Detectors Save Lives - Test Yours Regularly!" The department firefighters will perform various demonstrations including: showing kids what a firefighter looks like in gear so that they do not hide from a firefighter in the event of a fire, explaining the trucks and letting the kids touch various things to see what a real fire truck looks like up close, fire station tours, fire truck rides, fire safety talks and fire safety materials, brochures and pamphlets.
There will be a contest for kids 5 to 11 years old to enter and win a birthday party at the fire station. Entries must be present at the open house to enter the drawing. Special rules apply and dates are not guaranteed to be available due to firefighters' schedules. The drawing will take place after the open house at a later date.
