Contemporary colored pencil artworks have little resemblance to “what we learned in grade school.” Whether a drawer with little experience or veteran, you’ll have fun discovering and becoming proficient with a unique layering technique which showcases on dark paper a drama and detail beyond what you thought possible with colored pencil. We’ll look at contemporary colored pencil artworks, do an exercise that introduces various stroke applications, each choose a personal subject, design a customized composition and begin an original artwork. There will be several demonstrations and plenty of time to work on your personal drawing, building confidence to complete the drawing with excellence beyond the 2-day workshop.
Rhonda Nass and her husband, Rick, have owned Ampersand, an illustration studio, for 30+ years (www.rnass.com). Rhonda’s artworks appear in corporate, private, museum and gallery collections (including the River Arts on Water Gallery in Prairie du Sac). She is published internationally and teaches nationwide.
Recently, Rhonda published her book “Scratchings of a Madwoman” which is available at River Arts on Water Gallery (590 Water St, Prairie du Sac) and online here. “Scratchings of a Madwoman” will introduce readers and viewers to two seemingly disparate concepts—pursuit/discovery of spiritual intimacy and communicating through drawing.
